What is the difference between AVANT Garde SalonsSpa and Aveda?
AVANT Garde SalonsSpa is Austin’s original Aveda concept salons, but we are not Aveda. We use and sell Aveda products in our salons and spa. -BACK-

Do you sell any other products besides Aveda?
No, we only sell and use AVEDA. -BACK-

Does AVEDA have other products besides shampoos and conditioners?
Yes. AVEDA includes hair care products, skin care, makeup, candles, essential oils, comforting tea etc. -BACK-

What is the return policy for AVEDA products purchased at AVANT Garde SalonsSpa?
You may always return any AVEDA product purchased at one of our locations accompanied by an original receipt within 2 weeks from the date of purchase. -BACK-

Why do prices vary?
We base our prices on an individual's educational level within Avant Garde Career path. All of our service providers are individually chosen and have passed our nationally acclaimed program with great success. While prices vary accordingly, every AVANT GARDE specialist is constantly improving through ongoing education. We feel confident in recommending all our team members, regardless of price, to any of our customers. -BACK-

Do Avant Garde service providers continue their education throughout their career?
Yes. All of our service providers participate in our nationally acclaimed educational program as well as take advantage of national and international education. -BACK-

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept Cash, Checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Debit Cards. -BACK-

Are Avant Garde Gift Cards/Certificates valid only at Avant Garde locations?
Yes. Avant Garde Gift Cards are available in any dollar amount starting at $25 and are redeemable for products, services or both at any Avant Garde SalonSpa location. AVANT Garde Gift Cards are not valid at other Aveda concept salons. -BACK-

What can be purchased with Avant Garde Gift Card/Certificate?
Avant Garde Gift Cards are redeemable in products, services - or any combination - equal to the dollar amount of the gift card/certificate, at any one or combination of Avant Garde locations. Gift Cards may not be used for graduity. -BACK-

Do you accept Aveda Gift Cards/Certificates?
No. Currently, we are not accepting Aveda gift cards. -BACK-

How much should I tip?
 Generally 10-20% of the total service is appropriate, depending upon how you feel the quality of service was. -BACK-

How far in advance should I book my appointment?
We recommend all clients scheduling their appointments at the beginning of the week if they want an appointment on a week day, 2 - 3 weeks in advance for Friday or Saturday. We highly recommend pre-booking appointments before leaving the salon if you see a specific service provider. Walk-ins are permitted if time is available. -BACK-

Will you remind me of my appointment?
Yes. Your appointment will be confirmed 48 hours in advance. -BACK-

When should I arrive?
We suggest that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This will allow you the opportunity to change, relax and to let the staff know of any special requests or questions that you might have. -BACK-

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Although we know unforeseen circumstances may arise that prohibit you from giving us proper notification for missing appointments, 48 hours notice of appointment changes is requested. Appointments that are missed without notification will be charged 50% of the price of the services. Please allow us to reserve all visits containing four or more services with a credit card. -BACK-

What if I am late?
If you find yourself running late for an appointment, please call our Customer Care Coordinators and let them know so that they can inform your service provider to see if it would affect any other clients scheduled that day. We will always do our best to accommodate you if possible. -BACK-

Do you share my personal information (address, email, phone number) with anyone else?
Absolutely not. -BACK-

Can I cut and color my hair at the same day?
Yes . We suggest that you schedule your color appointment first though. -BACK-

Should I wash my hair before coloring it or getting an updo?
No. Washing the hair strips away its natural oils. When adding color or creating an updo, the natural oils in the hair give it better holding properties and make it easier to work with. -BACK-

What if I do not like my haircut or color that I received at AVANT Garde?
If you are not 100% satisfied you are more than welcome to come back for a complimentary redo with the same service provider or someone else. -BACK-

What should I wear if I am getting a massage or a body treatment service?
Wear what makes you feel comfortable, for example, a bathing suit. Robes, towels and smocks will be provided for you, which you may wear over your undergarments. Your body will remain draped throughout the treatment with only the area being worked on exposed. -BACK-

What should I expect when receiving a full body massage?
When arriving for your scheduled massage appointment, you will be greeted by our staff and given full instructions on how to prepare for your massage. Our therapists explain the entire process in detail so that you can make informed decisions regarding your individual preferences and needs for the service to maximize your comfort level. -BACK-

How long should I grow my hair before waxing?
For optimum results, hair should be one-quarter of an inch in length. -BACK-

Can I get a massage if I am pregnant?
Yes. Our therapists are trained in prenatal massage, but doctor's approval is advisable. Please be sure to notify your therapist before your appointment. -BACK-

Can men go to AVANT Garde Spa?
Yes. In today's world, men are as fashion-conscious as women and deserve a quality experience. Men can and have experienced all of our services, ranging from haircuts, hair color, and manicures to stress relieving body treatments. Many men also visit us to purchase Gift Cards for their loved ones. -BACK-

Do you offer full-day spa packages?
Yes. We offer four different spa packages. (Please see Menu of Services) -BACK-

Can I customize a spa package?
If our spa packages do not suit your needs, we invite you to build your own service package so you may choose those services that interest you most. Our staff can help you book several appointments together for a full or half day experience and also recommend services that work well together. -BACK-

What is Series Packages?
A series is six same services. By purchasing a series you save 10$. -BACK-

How far in advance should I book appointments for a wedding party?
We do recommend reservations be made at least 30-60 days in advance. -BACK-

Does a bride need to schedule an updo consultation?
Yes. Consultations are complimentary and take 30-45 minutes. This does not include an actual hairstyle or makeup applications. Please bring 4 to 5 pictures of hairstyles you like. Pictures help your stylist understand what you want. Please bring in the hair accessories you plan to wear in your wedding. -BACK-

When should I shampoo my hair?
The night before your appointment is the ideal time to shampoo your hair. DO NOT shampoo your hair the morning of you appointment. This is very important to your stylist. -BACK-

What should I wear?
Be sure to wear a shirt that is easily removed, preferably a button-down-the-front shirt. Do not wear a shirt that pulls off over your head. -BACK-
